Pathfinder vs. Rambox
Both gather your web apps and multiple accounts into one window. The real difference is where your data lives, and how much browser you get. Here is an honest, side-by-side look.
Rambox is an established workspace app that collects your web apps in one place and syncs your setup across devices, with paid Pro and Teams plans. Pathfinder is built around the same multi-account idea, but it is a full Windows browser that keeps everything on your machine: no account to create, and nothing syncing to a server.
| Feature | Rambox | |
|---|---|---|
| Multiple accounts of the same app | 2 per app free, unlimited on Pro | Yes (multi-login is a Pro feature) |
| Per-account isolation | A real Chromium profile per account | Isolated sessions per app |
| Account required to use it | No | Yes |
| Where your data lives | Your PC only | Cloud sync across devices |
| Built-in AI | None | None |
| Ad & tracker blocker | Built in | Built in |
| Terminal CLI & scripting | Yes | No |
| General web browsing (tabs, URL bar) | Full browser | App-focused |
| Platforms | Windows only | Windows, macOS, Linux |
Who is each one for?
Neither tool is strictly better. They are built for different people. Here is the honest way to choose.
Pathfinder is for you if
You want your logins to stay on your own machine, with no account to create and nothing syncing to a cloud.
You want a real browser, tabs, a URL bar, split view, a command palette, even a terminal CLI, rather than only an app launcher. And you are on Windows today.
Moving across does not mean starting over: export your Rambox setup and Pathfinder reads the app list, rebuilding your dock from it. Anything it does not recognise as a built-in app is added as a custom one, so nothing is lost.
Rambox is for you if
You are on macOS or Linux, or you want your workspace to sync across several devices.
You are rolling it out to a team and want central billing, SSO, and preinstalled apps. Those are things Pathfinder does not do.
